Multi-Disciplinary Studies Degree and Career Paths

At the successful completion of the College of Creative Arts’ Multidisciplinary Studies (MDS) program, students earn a Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies (BMdS) degree. Students have the opportunity to earn this degree by following an individualized course of study that is created based on one’s own career goals and artistic interests.

The MDS degree draws broadly from a number of minors to help students prepare for a profession in the arts or in one of the many arts-related fields.  At WVU, there are a total of over 270,000 possible minor combinations students can use to create one’s own course of study!

Possible career paths students can choose with an MDS major include, but are not limited to:

  • Private Art Gallery or Studio
  • Music Recording Industry
  • Artist Director of a Theatre or Dance Company
  • Community Arts Director
  • Arts Administrator
  • Entertainment Technology
  • Cruise Ship Entertainment
